City Council approved the Notice of Completion for the project on May 8th. The project has started its one-year warranty period.

Speed Feedback Sign Installation on Lake Drive

City staff has installed temporary speed feedback signs on Lake Drive, south of Birmingham. The signs will remain in place for three months as a traffic calming measure and also serve as a data collection tool to measure speed and volume which will help us to better understand traffic patterns within this segment. 

 

Left Turn Signal Improvement Project

The traffic signal poles were delivered for the Encinitas Blvd/Vulcan Ave, Leucadia Blvd/Quail Gardens Dr, and Leucadia Blvd/Vulcan Ave intersections. Pole installation will begin Thursday night (6/20). The work will take place between 9pm and 6am, when traffic is light. Lane closures will be in place and traffic signals will be placed in flashing red during working hours. 

 

The Traffic Engineering Division plans and manages projects to improve safety and mobility for all modes of transportation. The division plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of transportation infrastructure, and in planning for future transportation needs. Primary responsibilities of the division include:

  • Designing, installing, and operating traffic signals to ensure safe and efficient traffic flow
  • Identifying and implementing safety improvements such as traffic calming measures and pedestrian crossings
  • Improving pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, including crosswalks and bike lanes
  • Designing and maintaining roadways, including pavement markings and signage
  • Collecting and analyzing data on traffic volume, speed, and other factors
  • Reviewing traffic control plans for construction projects
  • Traffic Impact Analysis reviews associated with development projects
