Code Enforcement
Code Enforcement has the responsibility of ensuring compliance with the City’s various land use codes and regulations. Its primary function is to handle complaints on numerous municipal code regulations ranging from unpermitted structures, abandoned vehicles and hoarding to illegal signs, graffiti and noise.
If you witness a violation, please notify Code Enforcement staff by completing an online complaint form. Once received, staff will respond to the compliant pursuant to the standards and procedures described in the Code Enforcement Guide.
To allow for additional methods for dispute resolution, the City Council approved a voluntary mediation program for general dispute cases and land use/development cases with National Conflict Resolution Center (NCRC) to provide the mediation services. Mediation is the confidential meeting between people who have a disagreement, and a trained, neutral mediator who guides a discussion of issues toward a mutually acceptable agreement.
For more information on the City’s Voluntary Mediation Program please visit the mediation program webpage.
The City and community members share a part in keeping Encinitas a clean, safe and beautiful place to live, work and play. We value this partnership and recognize the importance in maintaining the unique quality and charm of each of the five communities, which makes Encinitas thrive as one GREAT city.
