PROJECT STATUS

Project design is complete and was approved by City Council on April 10, 2024.  Composite fencing material was selected as the approved fencing material option.   The project was advertised for construction bids in Spring 2024 and construction contract was awarded by City Council on June 12, 2024.  Construction is expected to begin in early summer 2024 and be completed in late summer 2024.

ABOUT THE PROJECT   

The Olivenhain Trail Enhancement project will install composite fencing along the east parkway of Rancho Santa Fe Road between Lone Jack Road and 13^th Street.  Rancho Santa Fe Road trail is well-trafficked by schoolchildren headed to Olivenhain Pioneer Elementary School and Diegueno Middle School – in addition to equestrians, walkers, and bikers from throughout the community. 

The City of Encinitas Department of Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Arts is partnering with the Encinitas Trails Coalition, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, to raise funds and apply for grants to complete this project.  The projects $150,000 budget will be used to complete a portion of the trail enhancements.

The Olivenhain Trail Enhancement project is in line with a Focus Area of the Encinitas Strategic Plan of Mobility & Alternative Modes by promoting multi-modal transportation alternatives and better delineating the path from the roadway.
