PROJECT STATUS

Project design is complete. Right of way acquisition is complete.  Required utility relocations are complete.  Actively seeking grant funding for project construction. 

BACKGROUND

This project will construct a roundabout at Leucadia Boulevard and Hygeia Avenue in Leucadia.  This new roundabout will complete the original three roundabouts contemplated for the Leucadia Boulevard corridor between Orpheus Avenue and Vulcan Avenue. The intersection will be regraded to provide a flatter road profile for the roundabout.  The project includes landscape enhancements and sidewalk improvements as well.  

PROJECT BENEFITS & AMENTIES  

• Improved safety for vehicles and cyclists by eliminating left turns and reducing conflict points.
   
• Better pedestrian mobility through the corridor by adding new sidewalk.
   
• Improved traffic flow through the corridor by removing the stop sign at Leucadia Boulevard and Hygeia Avenue.
   
• Enhanced aesthetics through new landscaping, trees, and improved street lighting. 
  
  
• Reduced greenhouse gases by eliminating required stopping.
