PROJECT STATUS

The traffic signal equipment for the project was delivered earlier this year. Construction on the project started in March 2024. Signal foundations have been constructed at the intersections of Encinitas Boulevard/Vulcan Avenue, Leucadia Boulevard/Quail Gardens Drive, and Leucadia Boulevard/Vulcan Ave. Additionally, the new signal poles have been installed at the Encinitas Boulevard/Vulcan Avenue intersection. The contractor anticipates installing the remaining signal poles, mast arms, and signal heads through mid-July. The protected/permissive left turn operations at the four intersections are anticipated to go live in the month of July. 

The project consists of modifications and improvements to four traffic signals to add protected left turn phasing to the signalized intersections and will include the installation of new traffic signal poles, mast arms, equipment, and installation of ADA compliant pedestrian ramps at all four signalized intersections.

 The four traffic signal locations are the intersections of:

1. Encinitas Boulevard/Vulcan Avenue
2. Leucadia Boulevard/Vulcan Avenue
3. Santa Fe Drive/Scripps Hospital Driveway
4. Leucadia Boulevard/Quail Gardens Drive

The improvements will provide enhanced pedestrian and cyclist safety, mobility, and accessibility.
