PROJECT STATUS

The Cardiff Sports Park LED Retrofit project began in July 2023 and design began in August 2023.  95% plans and specs are complete as of April 2024 and staff is preparing to advertise the project for construction bids in late April/May 2024. 

BACKGROUND

The Cardiff Sports Park has served the neighborhood of Cardiff for many years.  In that time, it has undergone multiple improvements, including major renovation in the late-80s and an expansion in the early-2000s.  The Cardiff Sports Park LED Retrofit is the latest improvement scheduled for the park.  Replacing the existing sports lighting fixtures with LED lighting fixtures will result in a 30% reduction in energy consumption.  All existing lighting poles will remain.

Since LED lighting lasts longer and consumes less energy, the project will help maintain a safe and livable community through well-maintained infrastructure within Encinitas’ parks.
